shop/ components/ diode 1n4001 - rectifier diode 50v

While most Arduino boards already have protection diodes built-in, they are still necessary, especially if you're dealing with an unreliable power supply. Diodes are the only electronic component that provides reverse polarity protection (put it between your DC power jack and circuitry to prevent negative voltage from frying your chips), kickback protection (place across solenoids, relays & DC motors to safely discharge the spikes from the coils), and rectification (put before your DC circuit to convert bidirectional AC to single directional DC). Having a few of them in your workshop will do you no harm and may even solve a potential problem in your future projects
