Fingerprint Sensor AS608 - A Beginner's Guide
One touch can replace keys. This project uses an optical fingerprint sensor to enroll users and then grant access with a quick scan.
read tutorial →The Stainless Medium Conductive Thread - 3 ply - 18 meter / 60 ft is a practical choice for sewing electrical connections into fabric-based electronics. Made from 316L stainless steel, this conductive thread is strong, smooth, and built for wearable projects where you need a flexible sewing-friendly conductor instead of standard wire.
This 3-ply medium thread is thicker than ordinary cotton or polyester thread, but still workable for hand sewing with a medium-eye needle. It is a great fit for soft circuits, sewable LEDs, textile sensors, and wearable prototypes where durability matters.
This conductive thread is ideal for sewable LED projects, wearable sensors, textile switches, interactive costumes, soft robotics, educational e-textile projects, and fabric-based prototypes using boards like FLORA, GEMMA, or other sewable electronics.
Pair it with sewable microcontroller boards, sewable LEDs, needles, and fabric or garments for a complete wearable electronics starter setup.
Useful extras include multimeters for continuity testing, alligator clips for prototyping, snaps or conductive fasteners, and standard non-conductive thread for structural sewing.
| Product | Stainless Medium Conductive Thread - 3 ply - 18 meter / 60 ft |
|---|---|
| Material | 316L stainless steel |
| Thread Type | 3-ply conductive thread |
| Thickness | Approximately 0.25mm |
| Resistance | About 0.83 ohm per inch / 10 ohms per foot |
| Recommended Load | Best for low-current circuits, roughly under 100mA |
| Length | 18 meters / 60 feet |
| Packaging | Small bobbin or spool |
| Best Use | Wearables, e-textiles, soft circuits, sewable electronics |
This thread is strong and smooth enough for hand sewing with medium-eye needles, and it may also work with sewing machines that can handle heavier thread. Because it is stainless steel, it is more durable for long-term wearable use and less prone to oxidation-related failure.
It does feel a bit stiffer than ordinary thread, closer to waxed thread, so it is not the best option for touchscreen glove fingertips or very soft fabric applications that need extra flexibility.
