Polyolefin heat shrink tubing, 7mm supplied diameter with a 2:1 shrink ratio, sold as a 2 meter length. Slide it over a splice or solder joint, warm it with a heat gun, and it tightens down to roughly half its diameter for a clean insulated finish.

Pick a size that slides over the joint easily but shrinks smaller than the wire underneath. This size grips anything thicker than about 3.5mm.
