HC-SR04 Ultrasonic Ranging Sensor – Distance Measurement for Arduino
The HC-SR04 is one of the most popular distance sensors for Arduino projects. It works by sending an ultrasonic pulse, which bounces off an object and returns to the sensor. By measuring the travel time and using the speed of sound (343 m/s or 0.0343 cm/μs), the distance can be calculated as:
Distance = (Time × Speed of Sound) / 2
Specifications:
- Power Supply: 5V DC
- Measuring Angle: < 30°
- Measuring Range: 2 cm – 500 cm
- Resolution: 1 cm
- Ultrasonic Frequency: 40 kHz
Perfect for obstacle avoidance, distance measurement, and robotic navigation.
