Coin Acceptor Programmable 4 Coin Type
Coin Acceptor - Programmable 4 Coin Type - Your project may be free-as-in-speech, but that doesn't mean it has to be free-as-in-beer. This handy coin validator/acceptor module is just like the ones you've seen in arcades. This model has the cool ability to accept up to 4 different coins! For example, you can program it for 4 different PH coins, or European, or Japanese OR you can have it accept 4 coins from different countries - say a Chinese Yuan, Japanese Yen, American Quarter and European Euro. First, you'll have to program it with what coins you want it to accept. Any coin from 15mm to 29mm in diameter can be used. Each coin is assigned a number of pulses, so for example, a nickel should be 1 pulse, a dime, 2 pulses, a quarter 5 pulses, and a half dollar 10 pulses. When a valid coin is inserted, the output line will pulse for 20-60ms (configurable). The acceptor looks for diameter, thickness, dropping speed, etc to determine if a coin is valid.
- The user inserts a coin into the machine's coin slot. The width and height of the coin slot are designed to accommodate the greatest diameter and thickest coin.
- The denomination of the coin is ascertained by its physical characteristics once the coin has passed through identification. The two solenoids that make up the probe have an axis that is parallel to the longitudinal wall of the chute. One solenoid conducts current, creating a B field parallel to the axis of rotation of the coin. Before reaching the solenoid at the other end, the magnetic field travels through the coin and is attenuated by its material composition and geometry. The second coil's axis is where the B field passes, producing a particular pattern of electric current that may be matched with the right coin.
- The coin also activates a switch that causes the slide member to be pulled by an electromagnet toward the wall of the chute (into the page), blocking the entry of another coin
- The probe transmits data to the electromagnetic device's timing mechanism, which activates the flap armature.
- Coin lands on first sorting weigher after falling down the chute. The number of sorting weighers depends on the permitted range of currencies. Each sorting weigher has a slot that is sized to fit a particular coin's diameter and is pivotable. The sorting weights are positioned according to the greatest coin size that will be accepted, starting at the top. The counterweight on the sorter weigher's left arm will only be raised if the coin is the right weight.
- The coin-laden sorting weigher pivots as it moves toward the chute.
- The coin's unique flap armature briefly opens when the electromagnet turns on, allowing the coin to fall into the chute.
- Coins are sorted as they roll down a chute.
- Power requirements: 12VDC (+- 20%)
- Quiescent current: ~25mA
- Peak current (for solenoid): 400mA
- Accepts coins from 15mm to 29mm in diameter, 1.2mm to 3.8mm thick
- Programmable for up to four different coins
- Does not work with coins that have 'holes' in the center!
