DC Quad Motor Driver Shield for Arduino

DC Quad Motor Driver Shield for Arduino - DC Quad Motor Driver Shield for Arduino. The latest quad motor driver shield for Arduino, compatible with 5V/3.3V Arduino controller, can control up to four DC motors with 8 pins at the same time. The shield supports PWM speed control and polarity control. The driver shield includes two TB6612FNG motor driver chips, compared with the traditional L298N chip, efficiency is improved and the component size also greatly reduced. The chip doesn't heat in to the rated range, and a single path maximum output 1.2A continuous current. The module includes a built-in low voltage detection circuit and thermal shutdown protection circuit, which is safe and reliable. This module is suitable for all kinds of DIY production.

Frequently asked questions about DC Quad Motor Driver Shield for Arduino

Q1: What distinguishes a motor driver from a motor shield?

A chip that drives motors is called a motor driver. A motor driver chip that powers motors is found on a circuit board with connections called a motor shield.

The ease of plugging a shield directly into your Arduino and connecting the motors to it makes it convenient, but it lacks the flexibility of a raw driver chip, which you may connect exactly how your project requires.

Usability and, in some cases, chip protection make a difference; some drivers have onboard voltage regulators and heat sinks to prevent overheating issues because if there is a surge of more than 5V to their driver, it will fry. The benefit of a motor driver is that you can use it however you like, as opposed to a shield that is fixed and that you cannot alter in any way.

Q2: How many motors can I use with this shield?

You can use two 5V DC hobby servos and up to four DC motors, or two 5-12VDC stepper motors (or one stepper and up to two DC motors).

Q3: Can I add additional motors?

Indeed, by piling up shields! You can add four DC motors or two stepper motors for each additional shield.

As the servo contacts are connected to Arduino pins #9 and #10, you won't be able to add any more servo connections.

Q4: What Arduinos is this shield compatible with?

Duemilanove, Diecimila, Uno (all versions), Leonardo, and Mega/ADK R3 and higher have all been tested to function with it.

If you add a jumper wire connecting the shield's SDA pin to Digital 20 and the SCL pin to Digital 21, it will function with Mega R2 and lower.

You must set the board up for 3.3v logic levels in order to utilize it with the Due or other 3.3v processors. Locate the trio of pads with the "Logic" designation. A jumper from 3.3v to the center is added after the little trace between the center pad and 5v is cut.
